Maria Flynn

Maria Flynn, Master of Physical Therapy, is a Physical Therapist at ARC Physical Therapy located in the heart of Elmhurst. She is a valued member of our team and will go to great lengths to manage her patient’s care.

She received her undergraduate degree in Spanish Literature and Language in 2000 from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. While she was there she studied abroad for a year in Madrid, Spain. She also embarked on a physical therapy service trip to El Salvador adding an extra bonus to her skills to communicate in Spanish.

Maria continued at Marquette University to further achieve her education in their well-known Master of Physical Therapy program, graduating in 2002. Since then she has worked at Schwab Rehabilitation Center in Chicago, Elmhurst Hospital and Manor Care in Hinsdale, specializing in neurological and orthopedic conditions where she worked on adults as well as pediatrics in the acute rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient settings.

Maria learned about Fascial Counterstrain through her coworker Amie King, a fellow soccer mom on her son’s team. She has gone through a severe autoimmune disease, multiple abdominal and hip surgeries which have resulted in chronic pain and mobility issues. Maria was eager to learn a new technique proven to be very effective in pain management and other medical conditions. The Fascial Counterstrain technique done at ARC Physical Therapy addresses long-term issues that herself and many others face that are not addressed by traditional physical therapy. She is committed to further her education and background in fascial counterstrain, completing courses that can truly help her clients by getting to the root cause of their pain and dysfunction.

Outside of work, Maria is a loving wife and mother of 4 children, along with a fur baby, Luna the Bernedoodle. She finds joy in being active, relaxing while reading, cooking and painting watercolors, and adventurous travels with her family.

Our Happy Patients

My first ever physical therapy to treat soreness in hips and pelvic area. Closest thing to magic I’ve ever experienced. Amy used techniques to identify the sources of pain problem areas and gently worked them out. Much more comfortable than I had expected. Problems haven’t returned since last visit a few months ago, but I sure know where to go if they do.
