10 WAYS TO ENJOY THANKSGIVING

(AND HAVE YOUR BODY THANK YOU!)

1 – Drink plenty of water throughout the week, especially before and during meals

 

2 – Walk off your big Thanksgiving meal – make it a family outing!

 

3 – Create a caloric deficit by increasing your regular exercise routine during the week (My family runs a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning!)

 

4 – Substitute light milk or cream in recipes

 

5- Try to lower sugar intake by making small cutbacks in your recipes

 

6 – Use smaller plates to help control portion size

 

7 – Have a normal breakfast and lunch so you aren’t too hungry before dinner

 

8 – Eat slowly to allow your body to register when you are full

 

9 – Watch your alcohol intake. Alcohol can be considered “empty” calories and too much alcohol can lead to dehydration

 

10 – RELAX and enjoy the day. Stress is big contributor to a number of ailments!
